Getting to the Heart of Women’s Heart Health

What better way to celebrate National Heart Month than with red wine and dark chocolate? February is the perfect time to remind all women to love their hearts and prioritize their own health. After all, better health enables us to care for those we love, maximize professional performance and achieve higher quality of life.

Join us for red wine (and grape juice spritzers), dark chocolate and fun heart health trivia with Amy George, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for American Heart Association’s North Texas Region. Amy will be  joined by colleagues Meredith O’Neal and Dr. Kamala Tamirisa.

About Amy George

Amy George’s 25-year career has evolved from storytelling to storyselling and spanned newsroom, agency, nonprofit and corporate settings.

Amy is currently the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for the American Heart Association’s North Texas Region where she works to transform the health of individuals and communities through brand awareness, education and mission-investment programs.

Previously, Amy enjoyed two “tours of duty” at Mothers Against Drunk Driving, starting as a speechwriter and returning as Senior VP Giving, Marketing and Communications for the iconic organization. Amy also served as VP Marketing and Communications for Cooper Aerobics’ health and wellness conglomerate. She began her career in broadcast television as an anchor and producer in the Sherman/Denison and Dallas markets, transitioned to a PR agency as an account manager and media trainer. Amy has traveled the globe, from Lubbock to Tel Aviv, speaking on communications and corporate social responsibility topics. Amy is a University of North Texas legacy alum, a rare Dallas native and proud fur-mom.

Meredith O’Neal is an AHA Staff person and heart survivor- part of her success story is thanks to Medical City.

Dr. Kamala Tamirisa is a Medical City Healthcare System physician with Cardiac Electrophysiology and Advanced Cardiac Imaging specialties, champion for women’s heart health and Go Red For Women volunteer.
